About

When not sitting in front of a computer and coding, I love spending time with the family and being outdoors and in the mountains. Keeping life in balance is not easy. I try to subscribe to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) but often fail to listen to my own advice. And too often the words of Thoreau ring in my head: “Our life is frittered away by detail… Simplify. Simplify.” It would be too easy just to work and run, work and ride and abandon the areas of life that keep us connected to each other. By putting life down on paper, it easy to spot those times when life is out of balance. Unfortunately, it appears out of balance more often than it actually is. Here you will find brief entries on events in our life, a picture of the day and lots of wandering thoughts.

Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments on the blog.

  1. Michael,

My name is Michael Ambers, and I am a reality TV writer/producer (and cyclist) from Los Angeles. With RAAM’s blessing, I am developing and pitching a documentary-reality show about the Race.

I am writing many soloists and teams to gauge their interest in possibly participating and being featured in this project. I already have agreements from a few soloists and at least one team – and am writing to see if this is something you’d be interested in.

I understand ‘reality TV’ is a polarizing term – bringing with it thoughts of exploitation and manipulation – but rest assured, that is not what I’m going for. There is enough drama and sacrifice in RAAM, that nothing will have to be hyped up. My goal is to do the show documentary style – following soloists/teams and their crews as they prepare for and ride the RAAM.

As I said above, this is approved by RAAM. I have spoken extensively with Perry Stone and you can feel free to contact him about our arrangement.

And please feel free to reach me at 310.710.7669 or via return e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you shortly.

    Cordially,

    Michael Ambers
